 There are a couple of great debates on the internet, including how you pronounce the word Vase, how you place your toilet paper, and whether or not you should juice or blend your daily snacks.
Juicing, obviously, has its benefits. The most obvious one is that it allows for a faster consumption of healthy food we’d usually take about 15 – 20 minutes to consume. Moreover, they’re easier to prepare, can sit in the refrigerator for days, and can be taken on a daily commute. Imagine someone eating a bunch of carrots, cucumbers, apples and lime on a bus – not pleasant. But drinking the combination is not only good for you, but also very, very convenient.
But there are a couple of key things not to forget when juicing food – just as with anything else, you need to keep it in good measure. Too much of anything isn’t good for you.

Easy on the fruits

Sure, fruits are good for you. They offer various nutrients, including vitamins and minerals which keep your immune system pumping and your body energized. But they also come with fructose. Fructose, or fruit sugar, is (just as) bad for you (as regular sugar). That’s why you’ll hear many doctors recommending no more than three glasses of orange juice, for example, a day.
Luckily, you’re not obliged to stick with fruits, only. Veggies can also be a great source of nutrients, sans the dreaded sugar. Sure, they don’t taste as good, but combining the two worlds will give you a great snack that’s just healthy, just nutritious, and just good-tasting.

You lose fiber through juicing

Early studies thought that fruit fiber is nothing more than a bulking agent. We thought its only purpose was to regulate our bowel, but now we know better. Recent studies have shown that our stomach bacteria use fiber to create short chain fatty acids, which have healthy effects, such as lowering the pH of the colon, and inhibiting growth of pathogenic organisms. What’s more, it increases mineral absorption. So yeah, it’s a pretty big deal, and we lose a lot of it to juicing. If you make your juices just a bit cloudy, it makes a whole lot of difference.

You lose more than just fiber

Besides ‘just’ fiber, we lose all the nutrients that are bound to it. Those are called non-extractable polyphenols. They, too, have many health benefits, including the fact that they are now considered a ‘major dietary antioxidant’. They are now considered important for gastrointestinal health, as well as for the reduction of tumor creation in our intestines.

So yeah, juicing is great, but don’t overdo it. Juicing too hard will make you lose all the positive aspects you decided to juice for in the first place.
